Red Dragon

A red dragonfly in North Dakota

A red dragonfly in North Dakota

As old as stars, and just as wise

this dragon flits across the skies

on wings as clear as time and space,

as intricate as tatted lace.

Elusive as thoughts in my head,

he flashes past in shades of red,

and humming low, he makes a trade

of sky, for perching on a blade.

I didn’t know his flight would end

when he swooped down to be my friend.

This dragon flies both bold and free.

I wonder what he sees in me?

Happy Friday, everyone! Celebrating again with Photo Poetry!

  1. Excellent poem. I love the energy and flow of the words. It has a delicate, but fast feel to it just like a dragonfly.
